The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday we read “The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes” by Mark Pett. This book offers a lesson we could all benefit from; learn from your mistakes, let go, laugh, and enjoy the ride. Today we discussed with the class what is a mistake and are they ok? Students shared out mistakes they had made in the past and what they learned from it.

We used this book to talk about risk taking. My hope is that in 5th grade our students take risks. They learned the difference between a good risk and a bad risk. Whether the risk is something as small as reading a new book, or something bigger such as trying out for a new sports team, we hope they take that risk and learn from that experience.

Today we did an activity to understand how we are similar. We talked about how we need to work together as a team to accomplish great things in 5th grade! Please see picture below.
